Singapore’s Good Friday and Easter long weekend is one of those rare stretches where most people actually have time — not just a day off, but a proper few days to breathe, reconnect, and do something outside of the usual routine. The question is always the same: what do you actually do with it?
If your Easter weekend plan usually ends up being a crowded hawker centre, a mall, or the same familiar neighbourhood walk, this year is a good opportunity to change the script. Wake surfing and wakeboarding at Marina Country Club is genuinely one of Singapore’s most enjoyable ways to spend a long weekend morning — and most people have no idea it exists right here on the island.
Why a Long Weekend Morning on the Water Works So Well
There is something about a public holiday morning on the water that is different from a regular weekend session. The roads to Punggol are quieter. The water at Marina Country Club is calmer — fewer weekday boats, glassier surface, better conditions for wake surfing. And there is no rush to be back for anything. A 3-hour session that starts at 7:00 am has you back home by 10:30 am with the rest of the day completely free.
That specific combination — early start, calm water, nobody rushing, whole day ahead — is something our regulars specifically target on Singapore public holidays. They book the first slot, enjoy the best water conditions of the day, and are finished before most of the island has had breakfast.
What to Expect If You Have Never Been
Wake surfing is a water sport where you ride the continuous wave created behind a moving boat. Unlike ocean surfing, you do not need waves, weather, or experience — the boat creates the wave for you every single run. Once you are up on the board and comfortable, you drop the tow rope and surf completely hands-free. The boat moves slowly (around 10–13 km/h), the falls are soft, and most first-timers are riding independently within their first 2-hour session.
Wakeboarding is the faster, more adrenaline-heavy version — feet strapped into bindings, holding a rope, using the boat’s wake as a ramp to jump and get air. If you want something more physical and high-energy for your long weekend, this is the option.
At Absolute Beach Boys, every session includes both options. You book the boat, Wilson Teo captains and coaches, and your group decides how to split the time between wake surfing and wakeboarding.
Who Can Join
The most common misconception about wake surfing is that you need to be athletic, young, or have board sport experience. You do not. We have coached Singapore families across three generations in a single session — grandparents, parents, and children, all on the same boat, all getting on the water. Here is who joins a typical long weekend session:
- Families with kids from age 8 — children learn faster than adults and love the boat as much as the riding
- Friend groups — a private boat for 6 people turns a long weekend into a proper shared experience rather than six people doing separate things
- Couples — one of Singapore’s most genuinely different date activities
- Fur kids — yes, dogs are welcome on board at Absolute Beach Boys
How to Book for the Easter Long Weekend
Absolute Beach Boys is open daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, including Good Friday and all public holidays. The session is a private charter — your group has the entire 23ft MasterCraft boat exclusively. Up to 6 passengers per session, all equipment included, no experience required.
Long weekend slots — particularly Saturday, Sunday, and the public holiday itself — fill several weeks in advance. If you are reading this in mid-April, the May Day long weekend on 1 May is coming up fast and slots are limited.

Package Prices — What Does It Cost?
Sessions at Absolute Beach Boys are priced per boat, not per person — so the more people you bring, the better the per-person value. A 2-hour session for 6 people works out to around S$63 per person. Hour packages starting from S$1,750 for 10 hours offer significant savings for groups who plan to come back regularly.
What to Bring
Swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, and a change of clothes. Everything else — boards, bindings, life jackets, and complimentary bottled water — is provided. Come 10 minutes before your session starts. Wilson will be at Pier #5 ready to go.
Make this Easter long weekend one worth remembering. Not another weekend of errands and Netflix, but an actual morning on the water, with people you like, doing something none of you have done before. That is the kind of thing people talk about at the office on Tuesday.
