Why Dogs Love Wake Surfing Sessions
Most dogs would choose a boat ride over a park walk any day. The open water, the wind in their ears, the smells, the general chaos of their human falling into the sea repeatedly — it is paradise for them.
At Absolute Beach Boys, every session is a private charter. The boat is exclusively yours, your group, and your dog. No strangers, no shared space, no one giving you the side-eye for bringing a Shiba Inu onto a boat. Just you, your crew, and your four-legged first mate cruising the sheltered waters off Marina Country Club.
We have had golden retrievers who immediately claimed the bow as their throne. We have had tiny chihuahuas who watched the entire session with the intensity of a very focused sports coach. And we have had dogs who curled up, fell asleep to the hum of the engine, and only woke up when the water bottles came out. Every dog makes the session better.
Wake surfing is the ideal water sport for dogs because the boat speed is gentle — 10–13 km/h compared to wakeboarding’s 20–30 km/h. Less noise, less spray, less turbulence. Most dogs are relaxed within minutes of departure.

Which Dogs Are Suited for a Boat Session?
Honest guidance — we want every dog to have a great time, so here is what works and what might not.
Beach-loving dogs
If your dog loves the beach, the sand, and running into the water — they will thrive on the boat. Water-confident dogs settle in within minutes of departure.
Calm, social dogs
Dogs who are relaxed around new people and not reactive to movement or sounds. The boat engine is low and steady — most dogs ignore it within the first few minutes.
Small dogs and large dogs
The 23ft MasterCraft has plenty of deck space. Small dogs sit on laps or in the bow. Large dogs spread out on the sun deck. Every size is welcome.
Older dogs and puppies (6mo+)
Senior dogs enjoy the calm ride and fresh air. Puppies over 6 months with basic socialisation do well. Very young puppies under 6 months are better waiting a bit longer.
Nervous or noise-sensitive dogs
If your dog panics in the bath or is very noise-reactive, the boat engine and water splashing may be stressful. WhatsApp Wilson first — he can advise based on your dog's temperament.
Highly reactive or aggressive dogs
Dogs who are aggressive toward strangers or very reactive to sudden movement may find the session too stimulating. We want every dog to have a positive experience — Wilson will advise honestly.

Your dog's safety is handled the same way as every human on board — with full attention and preparation.

Pre-session assessment
Wilson assesses your dog at the pier before departure — temperament, comfort around the boat, reaction to the engine idle. If the dog seems uncomfortable, Wilson will advise honestly.

Gradual introduction
Wilson idles the boat slowly out of the marina first. Your dog adjusts to the motion, sound, and vibration gradually — not a sudden high-speed departure. Most dogs are calm within 2 minutes.

Secure deck space
The MasterCraft has a non-slip deck surface and high gunwales. Dogs naturally settle in the bow area or sun deck. Bring a lead as a backup but most dogs are fine unrestrained.

Fresh water on board
Complimentary water for every passenger — including the four-legged ones. Wilson carries a portable bowl on dog sessions. Singapore’s heat means hydration for dogs is non-negotiable.
What to Bring for Your Dog
Fresh water & portable bowl
We carry water on the boat but bring extra for your dog. A collapsible travel bowl works perfectly. Offer water every 20–30 minutes in Singapore's heat.
Lead or harness
Bring a lead or harness as backup even though most dogs are fine off-lead on the boat. Useful for boarding and departure at the pier.
Dog-safe sunscreen (if needed)
Dogs with light-coloured or thin-coated skin — particularly on the nose and ears — may benefit from pet-safe sunscreen. The bimini canopy provides shade but direct sun is strong.
Treats for positive reinforcement
Bring your dog's favourite treats. Useful for rewarding calm behaviour on the boat and making the experience a positive memory they associate with rewards.
Towel for after
Some dogs will get splashed by the wake or decide to jump in. Bring a towel for drying off after the session. The car ride home will thank you.
Dog life jacket (optional)
Not required — most dogs stay on the boat — but if your dog is a strong swimmer and may jump in, a doggy life vest gives extra visibility and buoyancy.

Meet at Pier #5
Arrive 10 minutes early with your dog. Wilson meets you at Pier #5, Marina Country Club. Your dog boards first and settles into the boat while life jackets are fitted for humans.

Gentle departure
Wilson idles out of the marina slowly — your dog adjusts gradually to the motion and engine sound. By the time we reach the riding area, most dogs are fully relaxed.

You ride, dog watches
Take turns wake surfing or wakeboarding while your dog lounges on the deck. Most dogs watch intently from the bow. Some prefer the sun deck. Some fall asleep. All are having a great time.

Photo time & return
Take photos with your dog on the boat before heading back. Wilson returns to Pier #5 at idle speed. Dry off, change, and head to Marina Country Club’s cafe with your fur kid.

Dog Wake Surfing Singapore — FAQ
Is there an extra charge for bringing my dog?
No extra charge — ever. Dogs ride free on every session at Absolute Beach Boys. You pay the same private boat session rate whether your dog is on board or not.
What breeds and sizes are allowed on the boat?
All breeds and all sizes are welcome — from chihuahuas to golden retrievers. The 23ft MasterCraft has ample deck space for large dogs and comfortable bow seating for small dogs to sit on laps. No breed or size restrictions.
Does my dog need to know how to swim?
No. Most dogs stay on the boat the entire session and never enter the water. Your dog does not need to be a swimmer — they just need to be comfortable being on a moving vessel. If your dog does enjoy water and may jump in, a doggy life vest is recommended but not required.
What if my dog gets anxious on the boat?
Wilson assesses every dog at the pier before departure. If your dog shows signs of stress, Wilson will advise whether to proceed or reschedule. The gradual departure from the marina gives most dogs time to adjust — engine noise at idle is very low. Most nervous dogs calm down within the first 2 minutes of movement.
Can my dog and I wake surf at the same time?
Your dog stays on the boat while you wake surf — the dog watches from the deck. Wilson captains the boat, coaches you via microphone, and monitors your dog simultaneously. Some dogs watch intently from the bow. Others nap. Both are perfectly normal.
Is the Singapore sea water safe for dogs?
The waters off Marina Country Club are sheltered and calm. Most dogs do not enter the water at all — they stay on the deck. If your dog does get splashed or briefly enters the water, rinse them with fresh water after the session to remove any salt residue. We carry fresh water on board for this purpose.
How early should I book for a fur kid session?
Weekend mornings fill fastest — book at least 1 week ahead for weekend sessions. Weekday sessions are more flexible and can often be booked same-week. Mention your dog when you WhatsApp Wilson so he can prepare accordingly.
Can I bring more than one dog?
Yes — as long as the total number of passengers (humans + dogs) is manageable on the boat and your dogs are comfortable together. Two dogs is very common. Three or more — WhatsApp Wilson first to discuss logistics.
