Wake surfing is a water sport where you ride the continuous wave created by a boat, not by the ocean, no tides, no waiting required. You start by using a short tow rope to get up onto the board, then as the boat builds its wake, you drop the rope and surf freely, carving left and right on your own.
Unlike wakeboarding, your feet are never strapped to the board. The boat moves at a calm 10–13 km/h, making wake surfing one of the most relaxed, low impact water sports you can try. It is genuinely suitable for almost everyone, from energetic kids to complete beginners to those who have never set foot on a surfboard in their lives.
Singapore’s warm, flat water environment makes it one of the best places in the world to learn wake surfing all year round. Absolute Beach Boys operates from Marina Country Club at the tranquil northeastern end of the island, where conditions are consistently ideal.
